WHAT ARE FIRESIDE CHATS?
Fireside Chats are FREE pan-Canadian discussion forums for professionals in community health
Participants join in by both telephone and internet conferences.
The toll free telephone conference allows participants to hear the presentation and to join in the discussions.
An internet conference software allows participants see the PowerPoint Presentation from the Advisor on Tap's desktop. High speed internet access is required. Those with low speed or firewalls - use the back up presentation. (see below)

HOW TO REGISTER FOR A FIRESIDE CHAT using the Log-in area of this website.
For those with Log-in accounts:
1. Log in using your username and password
Forgot your Login username and password for this website? - use the 'forgot password' feature!
2. From the list of Upcoming Fireside Chats, select the topic that interests you
3. You will now be on an information page for that Fireside Chat topic,. Click 'register' at the bottom of the page
4. You will receive an automatic email with registration confirmation and access instructions for the Fireside Chat. Print out these instructions to have available on the day of the 'chat'. Be sure to join in the chat by BOTH telephone and internet conferences!
For those without Log-in accounts:
1. Create a Log-in account -it's easy - use the links in the Login section
2. Follow the instructions to register for a Fireside Chat as above, for those with Log-in accounts for this website.
ONCE REGISTERED, HOW DO I JOIN IN A FIRESIDE CHAT?
Fireside chats are not accessed via the login section on this website.
All Fireside Chat registrants are provided with access information via email imediately after registering on line. This includes telephone and internet software information.
The same information is sent again to each registrant's email: 1-2 working days and again 1-2 hours prior to the 'chat'.
Keep the access instructions sent to you via email, to help you participate via BOTH Telephone and Internet.
All audio participation is by telephone.
Visual presentation is by internet.

While Fireside Chats are intended for Canadian community health professionals - international participants are welcome.
The interactive teleconference is accessible to
A) In continental North America - via telephone
B) International Participants from beyond continental North America via SKYPE (Skype software is free, there may be some charges calling internationally to a land line - check your Skype account)
The interactive internet conference (to see the Presentation and to join in text discussions) is available to anyone, anywhere in the world with highspeed internet (some participants may have to address internal network firewalls)

Having difficulty as you are signing into a Fireside Chat? Technical support is provided 15 minutes prior to each Fireside Chat - via the toll free telephone conference.
RECORDING NOTICE:
Pending permission from the Advisor on Tap, we will digitally record the Fireside Chat with the intent to use the recording for possible future podcasts or presentations.
We will announce pod cast postings via our weekly 'Updates' email broadcasts to all participants, and on our website.
Sorry - we are unable to send copies of the recordings to individual participants.

WHO ARE FIRESIDE CHATS FOR?
Fireside Chats are intended for community health professionals: practitioners, researchers and policy/decision makers from public health units, departments or regions, as well as community health centres, academic institutions, research institutes, community health related academic institutions, long term care, national or provincial/territorial non government organizations or government ministries or departments.
WHY PARTICIPATE?
Fireside Chats are an opportunity to directly connect with Advisors on Tap - community health professionals with expertise and experience in their field. Fireside Chats include a brief presentation as well as the opportunity for discussions around current and pressing issues in community health. The intent is to support a community of practice that encourages the development of evidence based policies, progams and services in community health.
