Information for Advisors on Tap
CHNET-Works! Fireside Chats are pan-Canadian discussions for professionals in community health using simultaneous toll free telephone and internet conferences.
- 'Chats' provide professionals in community health with the opportunity to directly connect with an Advisor on Tap - people with expertise and experience in their field.
- The overall purpose is to share and discuss leading edge research and applications as well as mobilize the field to take action on a community health issue.
- Advisors on Tap can show the PPT presentations (and videos, or websites.....) directly from their own computer - using the Fireside Chat internet conferencing software.
- Fireside Chats usually are 1:00 -2:30 PM Eastern Time.

Tips for Preparing the Fireside Chat PowerPoint presentation
- Presentations are usually 30 minutes in length (24 slides maximum) - to allow time for participatory discussions
- Include opportunities for discussion/questions for participants each four-five slides (this works better than having questions at the end of a long presentation)
- The CHNET-Works! Animateur will send you Powerpoint slides to insert into your presentation: welcome, housekeeping, participants learning objectives and a closure slide.
- Questions/learning objectives submitted by participants at registration can be used to prepare the presentation and/or discussions. These are provided to Advisors on Tap by the Animateur.
- Incude a 'key messages' slide at the end of your presentation to sum up the essential points.
- Include references as appropriate (e.g. research, resources, publications, organizations)
- Send the power point presentation to the CHNET-Works! Administration staff c/o Cette adresse email est protégée contre les robots des spammeurs, vous devez activer Javascript pour la voir. 2 working days prior to the fireside chat. It is saved as a PDF file and posted on our website.
- Note: Participants use this PPT presentation as a back up incase they cannot access Bridgit internet conference.
- On the day of the ‘chat’ - have your presentation ready to go on your desktop 45 minutes prior to the ‘chat.
First and foremost – many thanks for sharing your information and perspectives with community health professionals from across Canada via CHNET-Works! Fireside Chats.
