CDPAC/PHAC Childhood Obesity Prevention Series–Part 3 Sharing What Works: Taking a successful intervention from British Columbia to Québec

The first fireside chat in the series set the stage by providing an overview of Childhood Obesity in Canada and its implications for chronic diseases, and providing information on where sources of best practices information and evidence can be found.

The second fireside chat in the series provided a detailed overview of ‘Comprehensive School Health’ with best practice examples of successful interventions.

This third fireside chat will provide the history and overview of Sip Smart! BC, an initiative created by the BC Pediatric Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon. The session will also explore its evaluation and insights on the process involved for transferring it from British Columbia to Québec.

What is Sip Smart! BC?
Sip Smart! BC is an educational program that helps teach students grades 4 to 6 how to make (or continue to make) healthy drink choices now and in the future. Sip Smart! BC was developed because the rate of childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions nation-wide, with major implications for the health of children now, and in the future as they become adults.
